# Turn on Agentic Autofill with a browser policy

> Set a managed browser policy that tells the 1Password extension it's running in an agent-operated browser, so it starts with Agentic Autofill available and every tab in Agentic Mode.

Partner preview

If your agents run in browsers you manage, you can set a browser policy that tells the 1Password extension it's running in an agent-operated browser. With the policy set, the extension:

* Makes the Agentic Autofill API available at startup, whether or not its feature-flag request succeeds.
* Doesn't open the welcome page when it's installed.
* Starts every tab in Agentic Mode, so your agent can fill without [turning it on](/agentic-autofill/partners/fill.md#turn-on-agentic-mode) first.

## Requirements

* A Chromium-based browser on Linux that supports extensions.
* 1Password Nightly extension version `8.12.44-19` or later. Earlier versions ignore the policy.
* Root access on the machine that runs the browser. The policy must be in the browser's managed policy directory, which only root can write to.

## Set the policy

Add the policy as a JSON file in your browser's managed policy directory. If you already install the 1Password browser extension with a policy file, add the `3rdparty` section to that file.

```json theme={null}
{
  "3rdparty": {
    "extensions": {
      "gejiddohjgogedgjnonbofjigllpkmbf": {
        "AgenticAutofillRemoteBrowser": true
      }
    }
  }
}
```

| Browser | Policy directory |
| - | - |
| Google Chrome | `/etc/opt/chrome/policies/managed/` |
| Chromium, including the Chromium bundled with Playwright | `/etc/chromium/policies/managed/` |

`gejiddohjgogedgjnonbofjigllpkmbf` is the ID of 1Password Nightly. You can check it in `chrome://extensions`.

The extension reads the policy when it starts, so put the policy in place before you start the browser.

## Check that it works

1. Open `chrome://policy`. `AgenticAutofillRemoteBrowser` should be listed under 1Password Nightly with the status OK.
2. In the extension's service worker, `await api.initialization.v1.whenSettled()` returns `"ready"`, and `api.agenticAutofill` is defined.
